The Suzhou Wuzhong Economic and Technological Development Zone serves as the main hub for economic development in Wuzhong District. Established in 1993, it was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in 2012. Covering an area of 308.46 square kilometres, it has ranked among the top tier of national-level economic and technological development zones for three consecutive years. Robotics and artificial intelligence are among Wuzhong’s core industries. By 2025, the sector’s scale is projected to exceed 200.9 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 24.91%. The area is home to over 1,000 robotics-related enterprises and boasts more than 600 robot models, making it the region with the most diverse range of robot types in the country. Service robot production accounts for over 60% of the national total, and its output of industrial robots accounts for one-seventh of the total produced by domestic enterprises nationwide. It is poised to become the nation’s premier hub for robotics innovation.
