1. Core Power Performance – Rated/Peak Torque: The stable continuous output torque (rated) and short-term burst torque (peak) of the joint, which directly determine the robot’s load capacity and explosive motion capabilities, and are the core selection criteria for humanoid and quadruped robot joints. Rated/Peak Speed: The continuous operating speed and maximum speed of the joint, which must meet the robot’s motion speed requirements (such as the dynamic response required for humanoid robot walking and arm swinging). Power Density: The output power per unit volume or weight. High power density is key to achieving lightweight robots with high load-bearing capacity, and represents the core technical challenge for joint modules. 2. Precision and Transmission Performance Transmission Backlash: The angular displacement of the output shaft when the input shaft is fixed, which directly affects the robot’s positioning accuracy and repeatability. The backlash of high-end joint modules is typically ≤1 arcminute. Positioning/Repeatability Accuracy: The accuracy with which the joint reaches the target position, which is the key factor in ensuring the precise movement of humanoid robots and the stable gait of quadrupedal robots. Transmission Efficiency: The efficiency with which motor power is transmitted to the output end. High transmission efficiency can reduce energy consumption and heat generation, thereby improving the robot’s battery life and continuous operation capability. 3. Reliability and Environmental Adaptability Protection Rating (IP Rating): Dustproof and waterproof capabilities, enabling adaptation to complex working conditions such as industrial and outdoor environments (e.g., IP65 can withstand dust and splashing water) . Operating Temperature Range: The ability to adapt to high and low temperature environments, meeting the requirements of extreme scenarios (such as aerospace and outdoor inspection robots). Service Life and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures): The continuous operational lifespan and reliability of the joint, which directly determine the maintenance costs and service life of the entire robot. Shock and Vibration Resistance: The ability to withstand the impact of the robot’s movement and external collisions, ensuring the structural stability of the joint. 4. Integration and Control Performance Integration Level: The degree to which components such as motors, gearboxes, encoders, drives and brakes are integrated. A high level of integration can significantly simplify the robot’s structural design. Encoder Resolution: Position feedback accuracy. High-resolution encoders form the basis for achieving precise closed-loop control of joints. Response Speed/Bandwidth: The joint’s response speed to control commands, which determines the robot’s dynamic performance (such as rapid start-stop and flexible obstacle avoidance). Youchuan Precision Technology was established in 2012. Its Dongguan factory covers an area of 40,000 square metres, and it operates a research and development centre in Kanagawa, Japan. Professor Li Wei of the University of Science and Technology Beijing serves as Chief Scientist; the company enjoys a distinguished reputation in the fields of precision transmission technology and motion control technology. As a National High-Tech Enterprise and a ‘Specialised, Refined, Distinctive and Innovative’ enterprise, the company employs over 300 staff and has an annual output value exceeding 300 million yuan. Its main products include precision planetary gearboxes, frameless torque motors, humanoid robot joint modules, nano-electric slides and UVW vision alignment platforms. Youchuan Precision Technology is one of the earliest enterprises in China to research, develop and manufacture humanoid robot joint modules.
