The Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre (SZCEC), which integrates exhibitions, conferences, business, catering and entertainment, was invested by the Shenzhen Municipal Government and entrusted to the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre Management Limited Liability Company (SZCECMC) for operation, and was officially put into use in 2004. Since its opening in 2004, about 100 exhibitions and more than 1,800 conference events have been held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre each year, with an annual exhibition area of more than 2.8 million square metres.
Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in the central area of the city, covering an area of 220,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 280,000 square meters, an east-west length of 540 metres, a north-south width of 282 metres, the highest place above the ground up to 60 metres, 6 floors above ground, 2 floors under the ground, a perfect combination of steel structure, glass dome and curtain wall, and at night in the light of the embellishments, exquisite and transparent, earning it the reputation of the "Crystal Palace".
The exhibition, conference and service functions are laid out on different levels, which are both relatively independent and closely co-ordinated. The 9 exhibition halls on the ground floor are laid out in a “U” shape, with an indoor exhibition area of 105,000 square metres, which can accommodate large-scale exhibitions with 5,000 international standard booths. The conference centre is suspended above the exhibition halls, with 35 meeting rooms of various sizes and functions, and can also be used as a venue for medium- to high-grade catering. The 480-metre-long main corridor on the first floor of the service area runs from east to west and up to down, providing a variety of exhibition support services.
