The SCHUNK EGK small component gripper is a multifunctional mechatronic gripper tailored for laboratory and electronics applications, designed for the precise and highly reliable handling of small components. It is suitable for use in clean, dusty or slightly liquid-contaminated environments, is filled with H1-grade grease and complies with cleanroom certification requirements, perfectly meeting the core demands of modern process flows for efficiency, flexibility and stability. By eliminating pneumatic drive, it is fully electrically controlled, significantly enhancing usability, cleanliness and sustainability in mobile applications. Furthermore, it incorporates a wide range of intelligent functions, representing a prime example of SCHUNK’s Level 3 automation intelligent products, capable of executing complex motion sequences based on input parameters and programming for easy adaptation to multiple scenarios. It features a long stroke and programmable finger travel with steplessly adjustable gripping force for versatile workpiece handling; the sealed design, combined with smooth profile guide rails, ensures sensitive and reliable operation; integrated drop detection and gripping force hold functions guarantee high process reliability; the absolute encoder maintains a reference point in the event of an emergency stop or power failure, whilst the spur gear design ensures constant gripping force across the entire finger length without a start-up distance; Multiple types of standardised communication interfaces are compatible with mainstream PLC function modules and robot plug-ins, enabling rapid integration and deployment. Currently, the EGK is widely used in the two core industries of laboratory automation and electronics manufacturing, having become the preferred solution for the automated gripping of small components.

Product Specifications

The SCHUNK EGK small component gripper is available in three models. Its lightweight design makes it suitable for operations in confined spaces. The product supports two gripping modes: BasicGrip and SoftGrip. The former automatically optimises gripping speed to adjust force, whilst the latter gently grips fragile workpieces and reduces impact; the motor is capable of continuous re-gripping and operation in both modes. It is equipped with a brushless disc outer rotor motor to achieve high torque output in confined spaces; the sealed transmission system is based on the spur gear and rack gear principle, applying constant force across the entire finger length; the high-resolution absolute encoder enables precise finger positioning, and the electromagnetic brake maintains gripping force and position during shutdown or power failure. It is equipped with standardised interfaces such as PROFINET and EtherNet/IP, integrates sealed control and power electronic components, and is fitted with profile guide rails featuring stainless steel surface sealing, ensuring stable operation and excellent protection for the SCHUNK EGK small component gripper.
