XI’AN HOROLOGICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF LIGHT INDUSTRY CORPORATION LTD. was established in 1963. It is a scientific research institution in the horology and timekeeping sector under a central state-owned enterprise, a key unit in China for the development and supply of defence timekeeping instruments, and an authoritative platform for new technology R&D and industry-wide technical services in China’s clock and watch industry. Transformed into a technology-based enterprise on 1 July 1999, it is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of China National Building Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., which in turn belongs to China National Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., a central enterprise administered by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council. The Company hosts several national-level centres, including the National Centre for Quality Supervision and Inspection of Clocks and Watches, the National Standardisation Centre for Horology, the National Light Industry Horological Information Centre, and the China Light Industry Horological Vocational Skills Training Base. It undertakes various industry technical service functions, such as the development and production of military and civilian timekeeping instruments, quality inspection for the industry, formulation and revision of standards, collection and processing of horological information, and vocational training. The Company has obtained multiple certifications, including ISO 9001 Quality Management System, GJB (National Military Standard) Quality Management System, Class II Confidentiality Certification for Weapons and Equipment Research and Production Units, Certification for Equipment Supplier Qualification, Laboratory Certification for Industrial (Clock & Watch) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation, and Environmental Management System Certification. It has also been recognised as a National High-tech Enterprise, a National Demonstration Platform for Public Service to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the Xi’an Aerospace Time-Control Engineering Technology Research Centre, and a National-level "Little Giant" Enterprise specialising in refined, unique, and innovative technologies. Guided by technological innovation, the Company continuously promotes the deep integration of industry, academia, research and application. It has gradually developed five core technologies in the field of specialised time measurement and control, characterised by: Aerospace Passive Drive Technology, Time Control Technology, Design and Manufacturing Technology for Space Precision Mechanisms, Time Synchronisation Technology, and R&D of Time Measurement and Testing Equipment. The timing control, drive, and transmission products developed by the Company are applied in various national defence and high-tech fields, including aviation, aerospace, maritime, ordnance, nuclear physics, and military electronics.
